Birmingham Family Tennis Chair Award

The Birmingham Family has generously created the Birmingham Family Tennis Chair Award. For the next five years beginning in 2006, one athlete per year will be selected to receive a tennis chair.

The purpose of the award is to assist a deserving athlete to access the appropriate equipment to meet his/her high performance development needs. The award recipient will be announced at the Birmingham National Wheelchair Tennis Championships.

Selections will be made by Tennis Canada’s wheelchair tennis High Performance Committee, and athletes who do not have a tennis chair sponsorships are eligible to apply. The selection committee will consider the following factors when determining the award winner:

• Review/evaluation of commitment to high performance tennis development

• Potential to achieve the National Team Program goals and/or the Paralympic Games

To apply for the award please submit a completed application form, and a 2 page essay outlining the reasons you feel you deserve the award by November 15 of the year of application, to:
