The relay is an excellent way for friends, family or co-workers to have a fantastic time, while supporting Saskatchewan people with physical disabilities. Get your team together; and be sure not to miss out on any of the fun! Encourage your team to develop an image by adopting a name, creating a theme, or wearing costumes. Meet the Challenge! The challenge is out to all CPA Saskatchewan members to participate in the 2008 Saskatoon Wheel Challenge for Everyone event! Take part as a team member or enter a team of friends and family. Come out and support your Association’s flagship fundraiser. Not only will you help us operate our programs and services, you’ll benefit yourself. Collecting a mere $100 in pledges will provide you with a free one-year CPA Saskatchewan membership! Other Incentive Awards are also offered, with awards available for a variety of levels of pledges.The event features a short but fast track, lots of excitement, good fellowship, food, refreshments,and prizes. We promise a fun day! The date is September 27, 2008 with a start time of 11 AM at the SaskTel Sports Centre - 150 Nelson Road.This year marks our 9th anniversary. If you’ve never participated or attended the Relay, put this milestone version on your 2008 calendar. We’re giving you plenty of time to prepare. We rely on you to coordinate your team, distribute the information, and motivate your team members to raise and collect pledges Included are answers to some of the frequently asked questions and helpful hints to assist you in completing the tasks at hand. Captain's responsibilities prior to Relay Day: Distribute pledge envelopes to all team members. Ensure team members record the pledge information. Encourage on-the-spot collection of pledges as it saves many hours of follow-up later on by the team. Keep each member's donation separate. We encourage your team to develop an image by adopting a name, creating a theme, or wearing a costume. It is encouraged that all pledge envelopes be handed in by September 26, 2008 or by relay day (September 27, 2008). Responsibilities on Relay Day: Have your team at the SaskTel Sports Centre - 150 Nelson Road at least 1 hour before for registration and warm-ups. Pledge Envelopes can be turned in September 26th, 2008 before 5:00 p.m.at the CPA Office. To get your Captain and team member Package, contact the office! Each Participant will receive pledge envelopes from their captain. Money is being collected as pledges. For each pledge received, record the name, address, telephone, postal code and donation amount on the envelope. Receipts will be issued after the Relay. Cheques should be made out to the Canadian Paraplegic Association (Saskatchewan); Return your pledge envelopes to the Team Captain prior to September 26th. -Register your team at the registration desk and hand in any pledges sheets and collected donations. Heat times will be provided then. -Proceed to the warm-up area so that you will be ready for your allocated heat time. -Once you have warmed-up and have your heat time you will receive further instructions from the relay officials. -After your heat a free lunch will be provided. -Remember bring gloves and have fun! Tips for Raising Pledges: An individual does not have to be a wheeler to collect pledges, so get friends and family involved; Approach various local businesses to support your efforts. Remind possible sponsors that CPA is a non-profit organization and donations are tax deductible. Be able to tell possible sponsors what services CPA provides and what the money raised from the relay will be used for. If your company contributes, it will be added to your team's total for prizes. Host a special event like an office potluck, auction or car wash. Proceeds can go towards your team pledge totals. Let's make the 2008 Saskatoon Wheelchair Relay a huge success. The fun begins at 11 a.m. with opening ceremonies and safety instructions, along with an aerobic warm-up! The relay, Saskatoon's nineth, will involve teams of four to six people wheeling their way around the figure 8 track area! Prizes will be awarded for a variety of different categories through-out the day. The highest pledge raisers are recognized as well as the fastest team. Another prize that is awarded is to the most original, best-dressed team and high spirited team. Incentive Awards are also offered for participants reaching different levels of pledges. |
