TERMS AND CONDITIONS The Assistant Press Chief of the Canadian Paralympic Team will be required to abide by their roles and responsibilities as outlined in the task list (below). Overall, he/she must: · Report to the CPC Press Chief prior to and throughout the Games;· Fully participate in the Games Orientation Seminar;· Provide overall media support to athletes of the Canadian Team and assist with operations set-up and take down according to plan;· Wear the clothing provided by the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC) while on duty at all times;· Stay in the accommodation assigned by the CPC;· Comply with all Team policies and the Code of Conduct;· Participate in Team meetings at Games and attend Media staff meetings, as required; and· Submit a post Games media questionnaire within 60 days of the end of the Games, and participate in any debriefing meetings as requested. Reports to: CPC Press Chief Time Commitment: Pre-Games duties Full-time in Beijing from August 29th - September 19th, 2008 (approx.) Post-Games duties Required skills: · Experience in media relations· Major National or International Games experience· Experience in managing staff · Knowledge of amateur sport· Strong communication skills (both written and oral)· Ability to work extended hours in a fast-paced environment and travel frequently between many different venues· Able to solve problems quickly and efficiently· Ability to function as a cooperative and effective Team member· Bilingualism preferred (French and English) Duties and responsibilities Pre-Games· Liaise with Games core staff and attend meetings· Oversee logistics of the communication team offices and operations · Assist Press Chief with crisis & contingency communication plan and participate in partner meetings/calls· Review and provide feedback to the Press Chief on the CPC Position Statement Document and key messages· Liaise with English and French media, including broadcasters· Attend and assist with the communication team conference calls and meetings· In collaboration with the Press Chief, prepare meetings with the communication team during the Orientation Seminar During Games · Oversee on-site communication volunteers (provided by OCOG or the Embassy)· Help manage and prepare the content for the website· Help ensure daily wrap-ups from each sport are prepared and translated· Manage one of the CPC’s media offices (either at the Paralympic Village or at the Main Press Centre)· Act as media attaché for designated sports· Fill in and help out at any venue when assigned by the Press Chief· In conjunction with the Press Chief, help coordinate interviews with media in Canada (with the at-home media attaches) Post-Games · Help coordinate media requests (photos, results, etc.)· Prepare the communication team evaluation form; collect reports from communication team members· Attend post-Games debrief meetings· Submit a post Games report Instructions to Applicants Interested candidates should e-mail their resume, a detailed description of how your experience, knowledge and skills relate to the qualifications listed above, and a cover letter in MS Word format to: Norma RevelerBeijing 2008 Press Chiefnorma@paralympic.ca Deadline for applications is Monday, March 31 at 5:00 PM (EST).
